Is it required by code to have a bonding strap to hinged covers of panelboards, mcc's, safety switches, hoffman enclosures, hvac control penels etc...??

Hmm I do seem to recall a requirment to bond hinged doors, alot of Fire Alarm panels Ice done have had a bonding wire around the hinge. However Ive never seen a bond wire on large panelboards with hinged covers either...probably it's all in the listing.

Generally, it is good design to have a bonding jumper to any panel with wired devices. The jumper needs to be sized to handle the ground fault current should the insulation fail and a conductor attempt to energize the panel.

The bonding jumper needs to have many strands so it is flexable & installed so it will twist rather than bend when the panel is opened & closed.

If there are no wired devices, then the hinges should drain any static charges that may try to develop.
