I?m finishing my second year as an apprentice in a HBA sponsored program but unfortunately, I will soon be moving to an area of the country that does not have classroom study available to me so it?s up to me to continue my education on my own.

To that end I?m looking for some recommendations for good educational material (books) on Transformers, Motors and their controls and PLC?s

Spend the bucks for a code handbook. The American Electricians' Handbook is not bad. Also, check out used book stores. Lineman's and Cableman's handbook will cover utility work, including transformers. Ugly's Electrical References is an excellent reference. Also, if you have a specific need, there are incredible sources of PDF files all over the Internet from manufacturers. I have many that I have stumbled upon while searching, many are from government agencies so are free.

Mike Holt has tons of study material and what I have purchased has been excellent and easy to understand (with color pictures :)

I think I'll try some of Mike's books. I like how easy they are to understand.
