Boot Disk

I had a desktop in to have it updated to 11.
The. Boot disk failed completely as he was watching it update. I have one from an almost identical desktop I scrapped out.

Will it boot from this spare?
Who is he?
Shouldn't he know?
I would think it wouldn't care what disc was used as long as it was for that system.

I would not be surprised if the motherboard BIOS and the boot sector had a little bit of incompatibility. But, I would be surprised if a real IT Wiz could not make it work.

The last time this happened to me, I used a generic boot disk to get the computer running, then I copied the contents of my old hard drive to the new one. I had an all-in-one computer that overheated and messed up the spinning hard drive 3 times before I upgraded to a solid state drive (no problems for 6 years, so far).

I didn’t think of it until I got home. I told him I could take out the drives and read them myself and not to worry about it. He had already copied some of the data files to other dives on it. No charge.

They were both Dells, a couple years apart.

Stuff happens. I was wanting to replace it entirely with a new unit but MDSW…well anyway. We are where we are.

I may end up with a new one now. Not my fault the other one broke. 😁😁

The dell I replaced supposedly couldn't be upgraded to 11 so I bought another. Not worth the hassle of trying to work around it.
It was still gonna be old and slow.
Much like it's owner...... :(
