boring holes for NM

IMO faster doesn't = better

Never?

I think faster can result in equal, better or worse it depends on many factors.

I don't see anything inherently 'poor quality' about running more than 1 NM per hole.

What is the problem with drilling a Hole for every wire? I'm sorry But when I see multiple wires in a single hole it just doesn't look right. How do you pull them in without damaging the sheathing? I guess when in Rome do what the Romans do.

Do you land each cable in the panel with a seperate Romex connector?

Means I ain't no spring chicken. I don't go balls to the walls like the young bucks do.
Oh Im not fast I just do it right the first time. I dont like to use my drywall saw like some people do.

There's a difference between three or four NM cables that are comprised of one feed and two or three switched legs, all on one circuit, and three or four loaded home runs, each a separate circuit.

The former might total 15 or 20 amps for the entire group of cables, while the latter might total 45-60 to 60-80 amps for the group. In my opinion, these two situations should be treated differently.

I agree that would make work but the NEC (IMO) treats them the same.

For simplicity's sake I think that is a good thing.

I guess it just really depends on where you learned the trade. Maye if I learned in an area that practiced pulling multiple cables I would think that drilling a seperate hole for every wire was crazy. Even the shady shops around here don't do it.

The guy who taught me how to pull romex would yell if I had one in my hand when I could have three. He also taught no more than three wires per hole, no reason given and no questions asked at that point. When I'm roughing a house I pull homeruns first so I can open every single roll on the van and pull all them suckers at once!!!

I'm the opposite (I do pull homeruns first though). How many spin boards do you have? I might use 2 spin boards but it has always been 1 at a time.

Say what?

You would not be implying more than one NM per hole is so bad that even 'shady shops' don't do it?
I'm saying that it would't fly around here . It would get turned down in a second.

There is nothing unworkmanlike with 3 wires in a hole. That is a bogus attempt by the inspector to have you wire it his way. I accept the bundling over 3 wires however I cannot agree with the inspector. I would be calling for interpretations from higher up.

Also because the inspector doesn't like it, it does not make it look bad. I think lots of holes with individual wires would like much slopier than one hole with 3 wires in it.

It is the norm here from the city to the rural areas. It is not just one inspector it is multiple juridictions of inspectors.

Where are you located?

I would be concerned about all the extra, unnecessary holes. JMO, but 1 wire per hole means too many holes. I mean, why Swiss cheese the house? :-?
