I have always wondered why on box fill the 2 conductor reduction for the device yoke is the same for a sp snap switch and gfci rec . If you fill the box max with a gfci you will packing hard to install it. It seems there should be some consideration as to the type of device. I think device should be marked with conductor allowance , that would be nice

Yes, it seems to me as well, that the GFCI does take up more space.

If I remember right it was raised to the gfci level from 1.

No matter if the cu in volume is compliant or not. - 314.24(c)1 requires a 1/4 in. behind the gfci
