I am working on a program modification on a AB micro 1200..I am using rslogix 500..I have a motor that starts and runs 2 rollers..I have motion switchs on the rollers to monitor if they are moving..I am having a brain freeze on a portion of program..I want the motor to start the rollers and after it is started I want the motion switchs to shut down the motor that drives them if there is a failure in the motion..the motion switchs I just recently added and have all the rest of the functions working fine just this one little area has eluded me..I am in a like a starter seal program thought mode and am wondering what ideas you guys have..maybe I am stuck in wrong thought mode..

I can give you more info..I do not have the program in front of me it is on laptop on desk at work..let me explain what I am after..This is a bin that holds 25 tons worth of wood waste for burning..when they load the waste at the plant it is with a pay loader and it is from a pile outside..when the temp is below zero the surface of the pile freezes..it then gets buried in with the non-frozen material..after the material is placed in our bin it is moved forward on a walking floor into a set of rollers (we call them beater bars)..the rollers are driven by a motor which drives a gear box with a belt..the gear box drives the rollers with chains..I installed the motion switch to monitor the roller to make sure they are turning before the pile can move into them..if the rollers are not moving it automaticly shuts down the floor so it does not damage the rollers..if you wreck a roller it is a four day ordeal..they are 14ft wide and very nasty..So what i am trying to do now is shut down the motor when it hits a frozen clump before it burns the belt off..eventually it will burn a belt just not on every clump of frozen material. at 6.50 each it can add up fast some weeks..the motor is controlled by the conveyor it feeds..I would like to stop the rollers on a frozen clump and then active the alarm and shut down the whole fuel bin until it is physically inspected and reset..this would then switch the machine to gas after perdertimed time if it is not rest..no auto restarts on a problem all problems require human interaction..

Sounds like a place for a timer in the sealing circuit. When process starts TOF timer seals motor relay on. Motion detector holds after timer drops out.I don't know how to draw pictures on this forum but if you send me a PM with a fax number I'll send you a drawing.

OK

I'll get back to U on that....

Tom do you own a form of rslogix?? IAOV I like the tof idea and it might work and simple too the rung would have to go from false to true in order to reset and yet I can install a latch unlatch system to make it a manual reset..now lets see if I can decifer Tom here.. I believe both methods could work with prelimenary reading must draw that out on paper and put my numerators with it and see were I am headed..probabully send you a pm in morning when at work so we can exchange some ideas..anyone else feel free..I can garuntee you everyday I learn something and everyday I realize I know less..getting edumacated is just hard but the ladies really like an edumacated Man..but granny she is real hard teacher and the whoopins for getin it wrong are gettin worser everyday..

I will send you part of my program to check out..it is simple no math computations just fuctional..I have designed this whole program and taken this machine from a relay logic 2 10x10 j-boxs stuff to a 2 4'x5' control cabinets and it runs all by its self an even can do self reportin..I am having some problems with my human interface programing do you do any view screen programing..brain dead on what I have right now panelview 300 I believe..

I am not big fan of the display would like better unit but need to get everyone hooked on its features then when it goes bad (which will proabully be never) get bigger display with touch screen..I would like to beable to adjust hopper levels and conveyor fill levels without getting my laptop out and hook it to do it..I just replaced this micro logic 1200 had fire while back and conduit frosted up and then when building got warm condensation driped out of conduit non related to fire and fried the unit..

We use advance A/B processors with Ethernet communication, Cat5 hookups. Dedicated IP address hooked up to the main server,(Using MASS system). You can log on to any processor,HMIs from any where in the plant with wireless communications. Also, we can log on to any PCs on the floor using VNC software and do anything. Just like being in front of the PC.

Whooosh...What was that sound over my head?

I was just trying to point out what is out there and how easy it can be to communicate with devices. Not to worry about finding the right serial cable, worring about setting up the Baud rate, ports on lap top etc..No need to have off line P.L.C programs and try to maintain the latest logic changes. Everything is done autamatically and with high speed. I was not trying to be a wise guy, sorry.

Will this help

Will this help

This is the Ladder of how you might add a timer as a bypass delay for your speed switch.

tell me what programs you are using..what is the range of the wirless connection..I am interested..been using AB software for almost 20 years I was wean on PLC 2's..
