I have been reading that there is a growing trend in the exit light industry for GREEN light instead of red. As I understand it, green light is easier for the eye to see especially during smoke conditions.

I have also heard of "in a panic mode" red means stop. People freezing, like deers looking at headlights, also that red only makes the fire appear closer then it actually is, and in some cases, fire where there was none. What's next, blue light technology for exit signs?

This is true. I saw a demonstration where they put a red and green exit signs in a smoke chamber. The green was still visible after the red one disappeared. And red does look more like a fire.

The point being that, the normal power can still be on,so during a FIRE with lots of smoke the red or newer/safer green glow saves lives.

So, please don't switch exit lights, power failure is only one concern. thanks!!
