Can you have a L6-30R receptacle on a 20A breaker? Guess you could but doesn't make sense. Would think a 30A receptacle would be chosen because of the load it's handling and the breaker should be selected accordingly. 30a or 40A breaker would make sense.

A 30 amp single receptacle can be on a 15, 20, 25 or 30 amp individual branch circuit. It cannot be on a 40 amp circuit.
