If it's supervised Industrial then they would already know and the better part is... They won't fix it. However they could've upped a motor, or other device and just upped the breaker. Chances are somewhere it was calculated that the wire would be sufficient.
 
wiring can also be sized to the "application" >ie actual draw< instead of circuit breaker size.

Based on the pm,, and only having the pm to base an answer on, theres nothing wrong with saying 12awg isnt the correct size if the application required breaker that after a 1.25, it came to 30A.
