brian john brought up a great idea on a gathering for all of us. It's kind of a short notice, but if it was planned a year or so in advance, just how many of you would actually plan to attend? Let's be honest here, 'cause brian john has a great idea, I say let's make it work!!!

I say it's a great idea, but one gathering is hard for everyone to make. More regional get-togethers would make more sense.

Well Ken, we have to start somewhere. How about some suggestions on a meeting ground??? If we have enough notice in advance, I say "Let's do it!"

I would love to see this happen, and I know I am NOT the only one.

I'd say the first rule is to have one within a days drive of most any location. Anything further will simply cause attendance to plummet.

I've got a good friend who plans gatherings like this for a living. Maybe she has a map or list already.

I'll volunteer to head up the Upper Midwest committee.

Call me silly, but wouldn't anyone even consider flying in to such an event?

I would like to point out that Lake of the Ozarks is centrally located with more than enough hotel space accesable from KC or St Louis airports with connecting flights to columbia which is only an hours drive.Plenty of recreational activites and restaurants.We have several tresort conference centers maybe Mr Holt would come for the barefoot skiing on the lake.

I'm all for it. Let's meet in Jay, NY. That way I won't have to travel and you'll all get to see the most beautiful place on earth.
We don't have a gas station, restaurant or convenience store, but the next town up does. Bring your tent and lots of bug spray 'cause when we get rid of these last snowbanks, you'll need 'um. :D

Seriously, though. I'll travel if the date is right. :)

I lived in your area for five years. I lived in Lake Placid and Saranac Lake before I moved to NC. Lake Placid would be an excellent meeting ground:wink: Keene Valley would even be better:smile: I was thinking "central" for all of us:wink:

OK, here's what my friend had to say:
I gave her a 500-mile radius limit for those who are going to drive.

She sent me back the following seven cities:

Portland, Oregon
Las Vegas, Nevada
Casper, Wyoming
Minneapolis, Minnesota
Abilene, Texas
Atlanta, Georgia
Albany, New York

Granted, some aren't what you call 'Destination' cities, but this is based only on the information I gave her.
