Briggs Stratton ATS Alternatives

I have a new 12kW Briggs Stratton Fortress generator (040591), received from them as a warranty replacement for my oil burning original. I fought with them for a year to get that! I installed the original being a retired Inside Wireman. The problem is the original ATS from 2016. The trash has already blown 2 boards from surges so I want to replace it. My Siemens surge protector on the main did not save it. Although I've heard the new Briggs ATS are better, they have a lead time of 30 weeks minimum so I'm looking for an alternative ATS that will work with my new generator. The generator has a GENSET GC1031 controller so it can be programmed for 2 wire start(terminals 4/5). It comes pre- programmed for voltage sense. It still needs 240V on the utility side to charge the battery (terminals 24/25 through the transfer switch. I looked at ASCO but their tech support said it's 2 wire start only and has no provision for charging battery on the utility side.

Price is not a consideration and I don't care if it's 100-200 AMP but need a preferably heavy duty basic ATS....I just want it to transfer power to the sub. It's powering one of my 4 100 Amp subpanels. Power outages in rural California are common...it's like a 3rd world country.

Does anyone have any experience with alternative ATS's that would work with the Briggs generator?

Yep, I would use a 2 wire start Asco as well. Done a number of them like this over the years. I had issues with some that a Generac dealer's "technician" came behind me for service and have no clue the you can use a industry standard 2 wire start switch on many of these units instead of the genset doing the sensing like all the resi manufactures have gone to. Some of the hairbrained ATS/genset control schemes the resi manufactures have come up with are just stupid. Of course I know why they do it, but it is just sad.

If it will do two wire, here is a basic switch for you! ( just do a fuse block for the charger)
I contacted ASCO tech support and they said an optional module 105B is designed specifically for that purpose. Unfortunately they don't have it. Did you just tap off the utility side and run through a midget fuse block?
