Re: Broken Well

The house is fifteen years old. I found the bell box by digging up th HO's back yard. For a perm. fix, I will put a box on a nearby post. I will have to pull about eight hundred feet of wire to the well, after extending the conduit to the new box. The other two runs are short. There is only about twenty feet of underground EMT I have to replace. I see some crazy stuff out in the country.

For your long runs, put the spools or wire on a roller that creates a lot of drag - as you are pulling, it will stretch the wire and you will need less of it. :D I am only kidding, good luck.

Re: Broken Well

How about same scenario but 100+ year old farmhouse that originally was pumped by windmill. They added an underground vault for the pump when that electricity stuff came along. They ran BX cable with the steel water pipe for over 200', 6' down. I didn't hesitate for a femtosecond. Lot's of new plastic pipe, water and 240V. Old stuff, wherever it ran, was left to continue it's peaceful disintegration. :(
