Is it possible to have a better ground than the power company, and if so ,what can be done to
correct this?
This is in relation to my place of employment,we
keep losing equipment, and the breakers never trip.
This usually happens during storms.

Re: building grounding vs. utility grounding

Can you tell us what the voltage is? Is it 277/480 or 120/208 y connected? Is there a neutral in the service conductors? If so is it connected to the grounded electrode conductor?

Re: building grounding vs. utility grounding

The most common reason for losing equipment is storms is not having all of the grounding electrodes bonded together.

Are these lightning storms?

Does this facility facility have TVSS (Transient Voltage Surge supression)?

Is the TVSS at the main service or at the point of use.

Is there multi level TVSS?

What type of equipment is being loss?

Are power outages associated with these storms?
