Burial of #4 BAG wire.

I am curious to about this armored ground wire... Would the armor jacket have to be terminated in an AC connector? it seems to me this would be pretty difficult outside of a panel... Also I thought that#4 did not require physical protection.. perhaps I am confusing my codes. What installations would require an armored ground wire?
According to the web link it is #6 or #8. See it a lot on older services. You would use an ac connector in the panel and a ground clamp for the rod or water that also has the strap for the armor.

This customer is a nuisance. Seems that she would complain how a wire is run to code concealed in a wall.

I think it is just a bare wire with armor on it. not a NEC cable assembly at all. If so it can be used anywhere a single bare wire can be used IMO.

Thinking the same thing.

Back in probably the 40's they did use a version of that with an insulated conductor (RW or RHW?) that you still run into every once and a while. Used to see that buried out to a ground rod.

I have seen that stuff going to cold water ground but I don't think I have seen it buried. Not many ground rods needed in those days ( metal water pipes). I doubt it would hurt it any to bury it.

I’m currious,
is it ran somewhere close to shore like under a house on stilts? So wouldn’t the aluminum portion corrode fairly rapidly?

Hi everyone. My apologies for my late reply to everyone's helpful comments. The "BAG" wire is a copper grounding conductor within a steel armored jacket. Looks exactly like MC. Here in LA it's used as the GEC on 99% of the new home/panel upgrade construction. It really looks terrible sometimes, I try to be as inconspicuous as possible when I plan the run. LADBS requires two ground rods and cold water. So, these GEC runs can get quite long.
In the end, I just moved the GEC and my customer was happy with it. She is my neighbor, have to keep the neighbors happy! Thanks again for all the input.
