You may be right, the NEC may allow EMT to be buried.

I still say EMT used in direct contact with or buried in earth is a bottom of the barrel installation and I would never do it.

In my area RMC rots away underground.

Really? Wow I would think RMC would last forever...or just about

I think it does at 18in. But I agree with everyone here that I wouldn't use it. Mainly because I firgured the appeal of RMC is only having to bury it 6in.

No, it turns to dirt.

It all depends on the soil conditions in your area, here in New England the soil is usually damp and highly acidic.

Move to Arizona and I bet EMT would last a good long time.

Check this out.

Back to the OP, I didn't see anyone directly address this:

My question is about buried connections. I know all connections must be made in a box of some sort.

Not so, see 2005's 300.5(E).

I also know boxes have to be accessible which I assume means you can't just bury them...
Not so, see 314.29's exception. :)

I had not seen that before. Thanks. Are there listed boxes out there where you can bring multiple RMCs to, and then bury it?

We're only a green area here and any non plastic pipe turns to dirt in a very short time.
