I've never seen an EGC in a meter socket. POCO here won't allow it. Grounded conductor is bonded to the meter socket when used for a POCO's meter.

You won't see an EGC in a meter socket, but you can see an GEC in a meter socket. Some of the POCOs here require them in there. One will not allow it there and must be at the weatherhead if overhead service. They will allow it in the meter socket if underground service.

My bad, I meant GEC.

POCO doesn't allow it here in the meter socket.

NEC allows GEC to land at any point between (and including) the service disconnecting means and the load end of the overhead or underground service conductors.

Used to be a pretty common practice on old services (like 1930ish to 1950ish) to see GEC attached directly to surface of building and connecting to where transition occurs between service drop and service entrance conductors.
