We use (and in many cases) misuse bus drop cables. In my mind bus drop cables ought to be connected to a bus at the source as illustrated in Art. 368.

It is my contention that the following examples are code violations - do you agree??

1- Bus drop cable run between 2 junction boxes

2- Bus drop used in cable tray

3- Bus drop used to feed 110v receptacle on the shop floor feed from a panel

4- Bus drop tie wrapped to conduits or airlines

I would agree. But I have seen many a manufacturing facility that moves machines around a lot, run this sutff anywhere and everywhere, and non one seems to care, until there is a problem. Then that old, long finger of the safety guy starts a point'in.

1. Violation of 400.8(1)
2. Violation of 392.3(A)
3. Violation of 400.8(1)
4. Allowed per 400.8(4) exception. However, depending on the particular installation, it might violate 400.8(1).
