Our specialty was high end commercial office tenant improvements and buildouts, along with tenant service work. One building provided us an perminent office space which was central to most of our work. They also provided us parking which gets expensive in downtown areas. Each building provided us storage areas for the crews that worked within their building. In 25 years i never owed a supplier a dime--always payed my bills on time --had unlimited supply credit. No workmans comp claims-low insurance premiums . No advertisments -- always had more work than we could handle. Wife handled all the office work from our house -- accountant loved her bookwork. Always provided my men(23) a safe and secure and happy enviroment to work in and took care of those who took care of business. Christmas bonus and yearly company picnic. Our company's motto was "the customer comes first and foremost" and my men prided themselves on customer service, which is very important to a customer who is paying $36.00 a square foot for rental space. It is truely remarkable how much productivity men can produce in a happy enviroment. I was never in business to make a million dollars -- I wanted a secure livelyhood and treated my men the way i wanted to be treated. And it worked for me! From a Contractors viewpoint, it was great to work for customers who always payed their bills "ON TIME" and were always complimentary on the work my men provided---that was "my million dollars"-- a sweet ride it was!!!:smile:
