buss bar ampacity

Do you know of a formula ? Like for example : 4 in. x 1/4 in. copper buss -- would this formula be correct

4 x .250 x 1000 = 1000 amp. buss bar

Is there a formula for ampacity for a specific size of copper buss bar?
for example: What is the ampacity for a buss bar 1/4 in. x 4 in.

The question is rather simplistic, meaning insufficient information such as vertical, enclosed how much airspace is there, etc.

Generally tghe old rule of thumb was 1000A/sqin will produce approximately 55 Centigrade rise at 20 Centigrade ambient. That means that your insulating supports need to be "good" for 75 Centigrade exposure.
