If using a 200 amp busway plug,does the code require using a wire rating of 200 amps to the machine if the machine is only rated 125 amp. Or can I pull 150 amp wire with 125 amp fuses.
 
your saying its ok to pull 150 amp wire off a 200 amp disconnect. Let me get in detail whats going on. We have a machine coming in that has a 150 disconnect on it. the name plate rating is 90 amps on the machine. I have a 200 amp disconnect can I run a wire rated under 200 amps to this machine or does it have to be 200 amps since anyone could come and put a 200 amp fuse in it later on if they were not paying attention to what size wire was used. I thought if you used a 200 a disconnect you had to use 200 a wire to protect its potential. thanks

Mike,You can't concern yourself with what others might do in the future.If they install 200 amp fuses without upgrading the conductors,thats thier violation.
If your on a site that has multiple electrical contractors doing work in the same buildings, then start taking pictures of your finished work and keep then in your files.
