To provide a Small Appliance outlet onto the underside or onto the
side of a free-standing butcher block table in the center of a kitchen, do you feel it is code compliant to drill a hole in the kitchen floor and from the basement insert emt up and through the floor into the hollow of the leg of the table, inside of which, connecting mc cable to emt and running up the leg and back out through a hole cut in the hollow table leg near to the underside of the table, then connecting mc cable to receptacle box?
The legs of the table would be secured to the floor.
The mc cable armor would be cut and connected to the emt and the mc cable conductors would run continuous from the outlet on the underside of the table through the cable and emt into a junction box in the basement.
As always, Thanks.

Would they be otherwise if not for this outlet? A table does not need one. But if it is desired to have one out there - your method sounds fine, in fact I have done it a few times.

Yeah, but it is secured to the floor, so technically its a fancy island.

Caution: this thread is about to get hi-jacked.

That fancy island needs a cord drop.

Thread terrorist.

I like it..............

I agree with the others.

I want to add you are not using the table leg as a 'raceway' as you are using cable and pipe.

If you where trying to pull THHN in the table leg that would be a problem.

That was my thinking reading the post. It's a chase, not a raceway.
