So it looks like MC-AP has the same basic idea as AC except the bond is full size Al instead of reduced Cu.

Does that help by meeting a spec when it calls for MC cable or something?

MCAP came about to get it into Healthcare applications. Until it appeared HCFC was AC. I still don't understand why someone would use MC-AP over HCFC, the AC version has a smaller Al conductor for shunting the sheath.

The bonding strip in AC is aluminum.

Does anyone know if MC is cheaper than AC and therefore more popular?

I would be curious about a price comparison. Seems like AC should be quite a bit cheaper due to third less copper.

AC is so uncommon to areas I work, most people haven't even heard of it. I've asked at some supply houses if they have it and they're like "you mean BX? no you can't get that anymore"
