Sure, why not? It's still a Chapter 3 wiring method. I see nothing in 320.12 that would not allow it.

Well if it is the old stuff without the bonding strap,.. I'd say you do not have a grounding means.

If you are talking about AC or MC cable, then yes.
If you are talking about the original BX cable without the bonding strip, then I urge you to remove as much of it as humanly possible.
