cable and conduit support in suspended ceilings

Is it code compliant to attach MC or EMT via listed support devices (such as the wing type clips) to the existing wires supporting the suspended ceiling system or must you install additional wires for the cable or conduit being installed.

Thanks Guys. 300.11 spells it out. In our market cables and conduit are rather consistently attached to ceiling support wires. Perhaps not inspected or perhaps system was installed to allow it as in the exception. Can't imagine trying to get the necessary info to determine if ceiling system was installed per instructions to allow it.

In reality, unless you can predict the future,,, the support wires you put up to begin with usually never fall in the right spot, or, the deck will be about 10' above the drop ceiling, where, unless you know how to hover, you cant get up to it to run your own support wires after the fact if you had to. :)
