Cable Hammer Crimper Tool

Funny how there are guys that have to chime in when this comes up with the smaller 14-10 AWG crimp on connectors that you must use the proper listed tool to crimp those and that a general purpose crimper isn't good enough, yet so far with this one there obviously is no assurance of getting same consistency on each crimp yet many think it is fine, especially for the boat or automotive work.

I guess with the boat and 4 AWG conductor - the conductor is probably sized to compensate for voltage drop, so it likely don't carry as much current as it would if it were being used for many AC voltage applications.

Please just tell me where to buy this and you can keep the lectures about how inferior it is compared to a fancy hydraulic press to yourselves. Looks pretty good to me.

You do realize that this is Mike Holt's Forum? No good issue goes undissected!

So I dropped the $19 and bought one of these things. Out of the box the casting was terrible. The V groove in the bottom was filled with slag type material. I chipped it out and filed it smooth, so far so good. Then I made a few crimps, the tool actually worked except for the drive pin being off center. Still made a respectable crimp. I used long terminals so that I could get two crimps on each one and added some heat shrink to finish it off.
