Cable run

Am running a wire for luminaries on the outside of our site for street lighting. I have one circuit for six light and the distance from the panel to the first j box is 400' the total distance is 1400'. Am using a 2/c # 4 +1/c #8. Can I step down after the first JB or I need to Stay In #4 till the end of the run?

If you calculate the load then just step down where you are able. No need for 4 all the way.
