Cable Tray Calculations

I am pulling single conductors into an existing solid bottom tray. I need some assistance in how to caculate how many conductors I can add and in calculating the fill already in the tray.

since I am working on design the layout of the cable tray system for a project currently I can tell you how the calculations go.

it all depends on the allowable fill for cable trays.

article 392 in the nec is all about cable trays.

see table 392.9 for fill. and the section 392.9 (F) also helps you out with solid bottom filled.

Thanks....I figured out whay I needed. The existing tray we are supposed to use ends up being 2 inches shy. We have a job meeting at the end of the week....could end up as a nice "extra".
