When parallel conductors are installed in cable tray [using 1/C tray rated cables triplexed] is a ground required for each set or one for the entire circuit of parallel conductors? I was on a job site today in looking at an installation that had a 2-1600A feeders with parallel aluminum feeders each set consisted of 3-1/C tray rated cables, however there was only a single 350kCMIL ground for the entire circuit not one for each "parallel set". I have been looking thru my code book, and cannot determine if this would have been acceptable for the installation. Is it code compliant to install a single equipment ground conductor when using 1/C tri-plexed cables in cable tray for a parallel run?

The code permits a single EGC in the tray no matter how many sets of single conductors are used. If an actual cable assembly is used a full sized EGC is required in each cable assembly.
