Sometimes the combination of two innocent things can lead to much entertainment.

First, off, I have a nephew who's a true genius .... college physics major, math whiz, geek extroadinaire. He got himself a meter to measure EMF around the house.

Alas, I was visiting that weekend. I happen to own a Greenlee HID bulb tester. Every time I pressed the 'test' button his EMF meter pegged. My goodness, did he discover 'off scale' EMF coming from the cat and the sofa cushions! His measurements did not 'conform' to any known theory .... until I produced my bulb tester
