Out of curiosity, how many have used or could have used a special in-the-wall camera that can see in total darkness for either troubleshooting problems or for fishing wires in extreme areas?

Re: Cameras

The carpenter on the job had a camera that had a light to see inside of areas that we normally cannot see into. You make a small 3/4 inch hole and peek in - it was very easy to see inside the walls if there are no obstructions such as insulation, pipes, ductwork. I think he paid $200 for the unit which is 3 feet long.

Re: Cameras

John, a camera does not exist that will see in total darkness. Some only need starlight but a little light is needed for them to work. I imagine that just the light from the hole may be enough if you have the right kind of equipment. If you want to see in color, you will have to provide a light source. :D

Re: Cameras

Some cameras work in what we think is total darkness, but the camera has an infrared illuminator, and we don't see the infrared.
