I am moving to a house which has a main panel with 2 30-AMP breakers feeding an electric dryer. The dryer is plugged into a standard receptacle for a 3-prong NEMA 14-30 (I assume) plug. My question is: Will my Lectron 48 AMP/240 Volt EVSE charger function safely and harmlessly if connected to this 60 AMP circuit? I am sure I will have to change the receptacle to receive a 4-prong 14-50 plug as this is what the EV charger has. Can this be done?
