Well guys thank you for your help and now my mind is clear. the Nec does not pohibit the installation of the GEC with other conductors. Thanks again!

Just to put in my 2 cents:

I think too many people argue the verbage of code instead of it's purpose and intent. It's not about what we can get away with, it's about having a safe installation. If the GEC is for lightning protection, what is the probability of consequent damage if it's run in the same conduit with branch circuits? I can only speak for myself, in that I know it's something I wouldn't do.

I agree with much of that, but don't forget we are at a code forum, arguing about code is what we do and by doing so we all learn more about our trade. :)

Curiously, what do you do if you're an inspector and you feel strongly that an installation is unsafe but can't really quote a specific code violation? :-?

I am not an inspector but the only legal response to that question is you pass it and move on. If you really feel strongly about it then you put a code proposal in for a change.

That said I think it would be very rare for something to be code compliant and unsafe. It might be low quality, or poor looking but it will still be safe.
