Is there any issue with taking a 200 amp MB panel and not using the MB and instead backfeeding a 100 amp breaker to power it? (The backfed breaker will be properly secured.)
Why?, you ask.
I have a potential client who has a 100 amp service, needs a new panel, wants to upgrade to 200 amps, but doesn't want to change the meter and riser right now to save some money. She also is in talks with the POCO for replacing the overhead service with an underground service. The 200 amp MB will be left in place for the future upgrade. I'm planning on marking it "spare".
