Can I swap a 55A breaker with a 60A breaker?

THW AL gives some idea of the probable age of the install but, curious, was 55 amp ever a "standard size" ?
Seemingly someone went out of their way to use such.
I kind of doubt it was ever a standard size. I could see some sort of OEM version being produced for some specific equipment that someone happened to have ready access to though.

I think at one time you could get residential circuit breakers in 5 Amp increments all the way up to 70 or maybe 75 A.

6 copper @ 60C has ampacity of 55, so possibly could have been for that reason if it was common or even a standard size?

hmmm how so? am I missing something?
#4 THW AL has an ampacity of 65 amps. Provided you have 75° terminations and no derating (ambient, fill, etc) the 240.4 would allowa 70 amp breaker (assuming a load of no more than 65 amps)
