Can you recces an electrical panel in a smoke rated partition wall? This is for an existing building.

Honestly I'm not sure, that is what the architect is calling on his drawings. From my understanding it is a wall assembly designed and constructed to limit the movement of smoke. Doesn't require a fire rating. Openings are protected.

Even for fire rated walls the panel can be recessed. It would need to be installed in a fire rated niche built into the wall. I would assume that something similar could be done for a smoke rated wall.
