There good for tight spots and outside other than that ugly as sin
IMO they don't look much different than the typical LED retrofit trim does.

There are "can less" luminaires that still have "baffles" and set back lenses, but those are not "wafer thin" either. There isn't much for potential selection when it comes to "wafer thin" units other than size of opening and color of trim.

A nice brass/copper/nickel baffle trim just adds class to the ceiling in my opinion.
Though those trim cost like $80 each.
So it’s relative to how much you want to spend.

6-4 are what we have.
Unless I misunderstand and a 6” can is also a 5” for some reason.
I used to install 4, 5 and 6 inch cans on a regular basis.

When they started making retrofit LED trims many often had only one trim that was designed to fit both 5 and 6 inch existing cans.

This question brings to mind when a customer complains about a recessed light automatically turning itself on and off. We all know what causes that.

I happen to prefer the Lithonia wafer lights in all phases of construction, new or remodel. They have the color selector built into the junction box and they are simple to install. If new construction you only have to pull one switchleg for multiple lights, then after the ceilings are up, select a proper size hole saw and use a laser lever for easy layout. I schedule my trim outs before insulation so going up in the attic and looping all the lights is a breeze.
