card access video intercom

i have a client that has a exsisting card access system and would like to add a intercom with pictue at a outside gate. They also want to control the gate with a intercom button at 2 locations? Any help or products you know of.

Try Aiphone. They probably have something that will do. It sort of depends on what you want. Most of their stuff looks cheap in appearance (plastic housings etc...). If you need something a bit more presentable you may want to look elsewhere.http://www.aiphone.com/products/new-products/

What brand of card readers do they have, I use SES and they also have a line of video audio equipment, in most cases can be just an upgrade to existing equipment?

I was looking at their site and I see they don't offer video but they can hook you up with a third party installations that work with their system.

They have some systems that are probably more third party friendly. I have used a setup that used their c1000b module which basically allows you to connect a camera and a couple of door stations to it and also it does not put the door unlock relay wiring out in the door station intercom which could be a problem if you are worried that a vandal will rip the thing off the wall and short the to wires together causing the door to unlock.

I think they might be American owned company. They have some stuff that might suit you. It sort of depends on your price range.

By the way, what card access system are they using?

I just did a air phone system and ran a 2/wire from a n.o. push button to the door access panel and called the door access guys.

That is a CAT 5 system I just recommended, since you have an existing system this will work over a two wire door bell cable:

we use system galaxy and mostly HID readers. We would like to have a card reader with the intercom but not needed.

The Aiphone video intercom is sweet. Make sure you check your view before permanently mounting the door phone though.

These are all great suggestions. I think it would be wise to contact your regional Aiphone Rep and discuss what you are going after. They have launched a few new product lines in the past couple of years and have some interesting solutions. You do not want to get into a system that is going to be pulled from the shelves in a year, so a conversation with AIphone seems necessary. I am not sure why you would need an intercom with a reader in it as you already have a card access system.
I know AIphone has a cat5 cable based system but it is not a networked system. So if you see cat5 don't let that scare you away.

Any video will do, then just run a 2 conductor from the controlling PB to your access control panel and program an input for an "Unlock door or Grant access" condition.
