Just wondering if anyone has used these boxes and whether they are acceptable in residential applications.

I'd like to use one to repair a long underground run to a gate opener. The conduit and wires were cut, and this would be great if I could use it as an underground splice box to repair this installation.

Any comments or experience with these or other direct burial splice/junction boxes that I could use?

Thanks for your help.

Trevor,
If the conductors are in a raceway, you can't use a cable splice kit.

You're right Don. I read through the post so quickly I missed that part. Sorry for the confusion. I would pull out the conductors, repair the conduit and re-pull new ones.

I'm trying to avoid pulling out the conductors if possible. What other options are available? Surely there is a listed box available from someone?

I agree a handhole enclosure is a good solution. If in conduit you can cut off the home run and install a 90 to turn it up into the handhole enclosure.
If it won't be driven over, a NM handhole enclosure will work fine.
