Is it legal to run plenum rated CAT 5e in a supply duct in a home?

Seems article 830.55(B) allows type BLP cable.

First, I don't believe that Article 830 applies as the CAT 5e cable is not supplying power to the equipment. There is some debate on what Article applies, some say 725 and others say 800. It appears that 725.61(A) or 800.53(A) would permit listed plemunm rated cable in an air duct.

830 is Network Powered Broadband Communications systems. If you read 830.1 I don't know what separates this from a POTS telephone line or the coax that connects a sat receiver to the LNB at the dish. Another area of the NEC that needs work!

That aside, to answer the original question data wiring such as CAT5 is covered by Article 800. 800.53 details installation requirements. Wiring within environmental air spaces must be plenum (type CMP). See 300.22(C) for an explanation of environmental air spaces vs plenums.
