Ceiling Fan

I am a homeowner re-wiring a ceiling fan in a 30 year old home. The 14-2 hot wire is at the ceiling. There is 14-3 coming from the fan to the switch. I wired the "hot" black to the white of the 14-3 going to the switch. I installed a double switch in place of the single (single pole) switch. I hooked the "white as a black - HOT) to one side of the switch and the RED and BLACK of the 14-3 going back to the ceiling for the fan/light. I tested and it works. My issue is, in the original wiring setup, there is a base plug below the switch that takes power from that circuit as well. I tied the BLACK (to the base plug) to the WHITE (as black) HOT wire but don't know where to hook the WHITE - Common for the base plug to complete the circuit. There are two brass screws on the HOT side of the switch. Can I hook the white there to complete the circuit since I want the base plug to be HOT all the time?
