I'm wiring a house that is aprrox. 3000 sq foot.
The owner is wanting 15 ceiling fans installed, should I add more v/a per sq foot than the 3 va /sq ft required by the code book for general lighting in calculating my service?

Re: ceiling fans

I do not think it is necessary to increase the required 3-va/sqft demand. Much of this calculation is reduced anyway per Table 220.11. The chances and probability that all 15 fans being on at full load at the same time is very slim. It should not be an issue for the service. Consideration should be taken for the branch-circuits however. Be sure to add addition circuits or ensure any one circuit is not being overloaded from the extensive ceiling fan usage. :)

Re: ceiling fans

I think the average fan draws about 2 amps or less (usually less). Unless all the fans are on one circuit this is a non issue.
