Ceiling grid wire

Does the NEC require grid wire being used for fixture, conduit, cable etc support to be identified (such as w/ paint)? I remember watching a Mike Holt video (yes it was a video not a DVD) for I think the '99 code and he mentioned marking them. I have been doing this for years but looked for it today and could not find a requirement for this.

I was looking at this article today and did not see what I was looking for as I am not considering a fire rated ceiling.

I just broke out my '05, '02 and '99 books and I now see where I went astray. The '99 does not list "fire rated" nearly as clearly as the '02 and on (it is in the text rather than a heading). I think I was led astray by an inspector who did not catch this distinction either and preached this w/ Mike as his back up (this inspector would conduct code classes periodically and used MH stuff as a strong backbone of what he taught, including the code change vids).

HA! I've been painting wires all these years for nothing! Oh well, rather over do it than under.
