I understand GFI outlets are required for basements but what about for supplying power to ceiling lighting?

The 1947 house I'm selling had the old household lamp fixtures with pull chains. My father removed the bulbs and installed screw-in outlets so he could hang 4' florescent lights. In a few places he installed outlets in the ceiling for these lights to plug into where the lamps had their own pull chains.

To meet the home inspection, do I need to have all this removed and GFI outlets installed in the ceiling for every light?

Thanks for the help.

Depending on when the outlets were installed, they may not require GFCI. Home inspectors are not respected here and you wold be far better off to hire an electrician for an evaluation of all wiring. We are not allowed to assist DIYers per forum rules.
