Ceiling wire gauge

Anyone know the minimum of gauge of wire to tie up a fixture. I never had a issue. Just came up to one.

I always use the size that the ceiling grid folks use. I think it's a # 10. I know that they sell a smaller size at the DIY places.

Would not the tensile strength, and rated load for the cable have something to do with it?

I cannot image #10 being necessary for small fixtures (except in NC i guess)

When talking about 5 lbs max weight including device, backbox and grid hanger, I have used the smaller wire that we get on a small spool, I think its #16.
