I just changed a dryer from 3 to 4 wire. I saw a green wire coming out of the appliance wiring attached to the frame. This green wire had continuity from N. I capped off the appliance green wire and hooked the new cords EGC to the frame terminal.

Does this sound about right? It seems the last one I did had a copper jumper that needed to be removed. BTW there was mo manual available.

sounds to me like the ground and neutral are bonded together

is it a newer model go to an appliance store and browse through the owners manuals of a couple of appliances tell the salesman you are comparing models to see which you are thinking about. not a lie because you are thinking about them. just not thinking about buying them

The top two pictures in the above link is basically what I saw. Apparently I did it correctly, the only difference was I capped that green wire instead of back onto the neutral like in the picture.

I was a little afraid that wire may have been a jumper to something else and I was missing the standard copper jumper.

EDIT to add: You can not see the other end of that green wire when you are working on the appliance, so its not possible to see where it goes/connects.

I think i would have taken that green wire and bonded it to the frame. When finished i would ohm it out from ground to neutral and it should be open.
