Chase branch circuits through main disconnect.

Simply cutting the wires to create a drip loop doesn't gain him any ground.

He already has a drip loop.

To mess with the existing service would entail much more than an added $20.00

To change this out to a combo meter main (which isn't cheap in the first place) he would have to call the power company for a disconnect, replace the wiring up the mast, purchase and install a combo metermain, re terminate it, call for inspection, then have the power company reconnect.

He already has a Main, and, a 3r MLO Loadcenter as he's contemplating is probably the cheapest and easiest way to accomplish what he wants to do.

It's his house anyway, so, he can do as little or as much as he wants to.

Sure he can do whatever he wants. How much difficulty and/or expense involved with some what you mentioned can vary at different locations. I don't have extreme difficulty in places I work getting POCO's scheduled and inspectors coordinated.

There is chance he needs permit and inspection even if he doesn't change the main.

I may reuse the main in some cases as well. Most times it will likely be replaced though.

True, but it seemed the OP was just asking if what he had in mind would fly.

It will, without having to go through all that other stuff.

I would like to upgrade the main but lot more work involved. Plus, the service mast isn't a straight pipe, it goes 5ft to a LB under my kitchen cabinets, then 90s up another 5ft to the weather head.

Service mast LB under kitchen cabinets

Yes, basically my question is: Is it ok to use the bottom of the main disco as a chase for the branch circuits?

So you have service conductors passing through the interior of the house prior to landing at the meter and an LB also in the run?

Our local POCO would have never even powered up a service that ran into the house that far and had an LB in the run.
