Chase

Does anyone know if there are any references to chases in the code? A questions was posed to me about the number of conductors in a chase and I am having problems finding any references in the code.

If you are using the word "chase" in the same sense that I would use it, which is to say a large volume of space that goes from floor to floor and that is used for routing of air conditioning ducts and similar large mechanical systems, then I would treat conductors routed through this area, and not being within a conduit, as being in "free air."
