As best I can tell chinese-built machines aren't built to any particular standard at all. Having said that many Chinese built machines are pretty decently done, even if they do not have the fancy safety crap on it. They well slap a safety relay and some guards on a machine if you pay them to though. A lot like many American machine makers have done.
Remember in the 60's, "Made in Japan" was a common punch line in cartoons. Fast forward 20 years, they were
making some cutting edge things.
China could be on that path. We have certainly gutted our manufacturing, probably something we will regret.
As a digression, about 20 years ago my wife and kids bought me a barbecue set, fork, tongs, spatula, made in China.
It must have been one of last imperial sword makers! Amazing smooth weld, strength, quality. I still use the tongs to
manage my wood stove they are so strong.
My point is, China certainly has the expertise. If they get it all together they will be a force to be reckoned with.
