A friend asked me if he could replace his single receptacle with a duplex for his circulation pump to satisfy the requirement of having a receptacle within 25' of his heating unit (furnace.) Apparently he failed his final inspection for not having one.
My answer to him was to just add a single GFCI fed from an adjacent pull chain. I had some reservations about putting a GFCI in to feed a circ pump or a sump pump for that matter. I just try to stay away from those things if possible.
But to accurately answer his question, can he do what he wants to do? Any code violations?
