Hello Everyone,

my question is the following:

I have a remote control 15VDC voltage class 2 wiring application where I am using twist-on wire connectors for splicing plenum rated wire. Do I need to use a box per Article 300.15 or I am covered under article 725-3(b).

Thank you in advance for your reply.

Re: class 2 wiring

2002 NEC 725.3-C allows the use of plenum cables in plenums and air handling locations. Usually the cabling "system" is allowed including splices and terminations. I cannot find anywhere in the Code that would allow CL2P cables in plenums and then require splices in a box. I have not come across an inspection agency or AHJ that interpreted that a box was required for class-2 terminations. I would say that a box is not needed.
